Cherry Lane develops and produces a variety of new works in our several development programs, including Mentor Project, Solo Fest!, Celebrating Women Playwrights, and Celebrating Black Playwrights. In addition to these development programs, each of which realizes fully-staged productions, we also develop new works throughout the season in our Tongues Reading Series.
After an initial production in our Studio theatre, many of the plays developed in these programs have successfully gone on to larger productions as part of our Discovery Series, which presents new works, first developed at Cherry Lane, on our historical Mainstage.
Complementing the new plays of the Discovery Series, Cherry Lane’s Heritage Series, also presented on the Mainstage, revives gems from the theater’s legendary history.
Cherry Lane also hosts a Master Class Series. Master Classes are open to the public and offer an inside view of theater from masters of the craft in an intimate setting.
